And these spices love me back by helping my heart. I\u2019ve always used spices to add flavor to my meals, but after I learned they\u2019re specifically helpful in maintaining a healthy heart, I&#8217;ve made sure to use one or more of my top-five heart-healthy spices each day. Many herbs and spices are beneficial to the heart, fight <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmd.com\/arthritis\/about-inflammation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">inflammation<\/a>, and reduce cell damage. Plus, because recipes made with spices are so flavorful, it makes is easier to cut back on less healthy ingredients like salt and sugar. Fortunately, it\u2019s been pretty easy to use them daily.<\/p>\n<h1>5 Spices Your Heart Will Love:<\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Cinnamon<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>:<\/strong><\/span> <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-8567 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/wp2.dinnertime.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Screen-Shot-2021-02-10-at-10.52.21-AM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"272\" height=\"204\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wp2.dinnertime.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Screen-Shot-2021-02-10-at-10.52.21-AM.png 343w, https:\/\/wp2.dinnertime.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Screen-Shot-2021-02-10-at-10.52.21-AM-300x225.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 272px) 100vw, 272px\" \/><em>Sugar and spice and everything nice<\/em>\u2026<\/span>although sugar is optional if I\u2019m adding cinnamon! Cinnamon helps lower blood sugar and reduce the risk of diabetes. Cinnamon also helps to reduce bad LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels. So skip the sugar and add a sprinkle of cinnamon to your coffee, stews, chilis or your morning oatmeal.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Turmeric:<\/strong><\/span> <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em>The golden orange of this fragrant spice makes me think of watching beautiful sunsets with my sweetie<\/em>.<\/span> The curcumin found in turmeric helps reduce inflammation, which in turn, helps reduce LDL cholesterol. Ginger has amazing properties that can help reduce nausea, lower LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, and reduce inflammation. The ginger root is most commonly ground into a powder, but you can use sliced or grated fresh ginger in recipes or tea.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Garlic:<\/strong><\/span><em><span style=\"color: #800000;\"> Kiss me if you\u2019ve had garlic!<\/span><\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.providence.org\/news\/uf\/414540885\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Research has linked<\/a> garlic intake with keeping blood vessels flexible, especially in women. In addition, studies suggest that eating garlic may reduce LDL cholesterol and triglycerides. <a href=\"https:\/\/wp2.dinnertime.com\/content\/2019\/04\/18\/garlic-5-tips-to-help-you-cook-like-a-chef-in-your-own-kitchen-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Garlic<\/a> in its many forms is among the most common recipe flavor enhancer.
