Now that&#8217;s a scary picture! <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over the years I have developed a few strategies that have helped everyone in our family control ourselves.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>8 Tips To Defeat the Invasion of the Body Snatchers<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>DON\u2019T<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0open the bags of candy you plan to pass out until Oct. 31. Hide them if you have to!<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Feed your family<\/span><\/strong> (and maybe some friends too!) before everyone starts \u201c<strong>Trick or Treating<\/strong>.\u201d A full belly of something healthy keeps that night\u2019s candy consumption way down.<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-5886\" src=\"https:\/\/wp2.dinnertime.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/categorized-candy-001-240x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wp2.dinnertime.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/categorized-candy-001-240x300.jpg 240w, https:\/\/wp2.dinnertime.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/categorized-candy-001-768x959.jpg 768w, https:\/\/wp2.dinnertime.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/categorized-candy-001.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Separate and bag<\/strong><\/span> the candy by variety from your kid&#8217;s loot bags\u00a0(after they\u2019ve counted it all!)<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Keep the\u00a0top 3<\/strong><\/span> favorite candy-types\u00a0and give the rest to charity the next day. GET IT OUT OF THE HOUSE!<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Allow your kids<\/strong><\/span> to take a piece to school in their\u00a0lunch box\u00a0for a few days and maybe give them a piece after dinner too.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Everyone\u2019s candy bags<\/strong><\/span> go in the\u00a0freezer. No secret candy stashes at my house!<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Out of sight out of mind<\/strong><\/span>.
